Denmark's must do's

Copenhagen in architectural focus

For those of you who love discovering new architectural wonders, then we’ve got great news! It’s always a good idea to explore Copenhagen — especially for architecture lovers. Recognized as UNESCO’s World Capital of Architecture, the city continues to open doors to spaces usually hidden from the public, alongside a vibrant program of events and experiences throughout the year. A timeless addition to any bucket list.

Go on an architectural adventure with Jørn Utzon

The Sydney Opera House celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023 – but what does that have to do with Denmark, you may ask? The mastermind behind this iconic building is none other than the Danish architect Jørn Utzon. And, of course, The Sydney Opera House isn’t the only architectural masterpiece that he’s created. It's always the right time to explore the Music House in Esbjerg, the Utzon Center in Aalborg and the Bagsværd Church in Copenhagen.

Explore the underground Cold War Museum

Step back in time with the underground Cold War museum, REGAN Vest. This shelter was originally built in the 1960s to protect the Queen and the Government during a nuclear war. This bunker was a well-kept state secret for many years, but it is now open to the public. You do not want to miss this piece of Danish history!

Take a rainbow walk

Fancy a walk in a rainbow? Then explore Aarhus Art Museum (ARoS), the largest art museum in Northern Europe. ARoS is built upon the idea of Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with a ‘9 spaces’ concept at the ground level of the museum and a spectacular Rainbow panorama overlooking the city at the top level. This museum is breathtaking on all levels and should be at the top of your must-do list when visiting the city.
